Why electromechanical instead of hydraulic?
GROB drives move heavy loads precisely and safely, without a hydraulic power unit.
No oil, no hoses
No hydraulic power unit, no leaks, no oil changes. Grease-lubricated screw jacks need little maintenance, and the MINI is lubricated for life.
Holds the load
Trapezoidal-screw versions can be self-locking and hold the load at standstill, even during a power failure. A safety nut and wear monitoring are available.
Moves in sync
Jacks connected by shafts and bevel gearboxes move exactly together, driven by one motor. Electronic synchronization with encoders is also possible.
Uses less energy
Electromechanical drives only draw power while they move. GROB states up to 70% lower energy use than pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Complete lifting systems. Connect two, four or more jacks with shafts and bevel gearboxes, and one motor lifts every corner together. GROB can also deliver the system fully assembled to your drawing.

Questions about GROB drives
More answers on our FAQ page.
Is Maedler North America an official GROB distributor?
Yes. Maedler North America is the official distributor for GROB GmbH Antriebstechnik products. From Bradenton, Florida, we handle quotes, orders, delivery and support for GROB screw jacks, linear chains, linear actuators and screw drives. Call 941.803.0160 or email sales@maedlernorthamerica.com.
What is a screw jack, and when should I use one?
A screw jack turns rotary motion from a motor or handwheel into linear motion: a worm gear drives a lead screw that lifts, lowers or pushes a load. Use one when you need to move heavy loads precisely and hold them in position, for example to adjust a platform, lift a machine frame or replace a hydraulic cylinder.
Are GROB screw jacks self-locking?
Versions with a trapezoidal screw can be self-locking, so they hold the load at standstill without power. Ball-screw versions and linear chains are not self-locking and need a motor brake. For safety-critical applications, GROB offers brake motors, a safety nut and wear monitoring.
Can a GROB drive replace a hydraulic cylinder?
Yes. The Spindle Actuator SA is designed as a direct replacement for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, with IP68 protection and a single power cable. You no longer need a hydraulic power unit, hoses or oil changes, and GROB states up to 70% lower energy use.
Can several screw jacks lift together?
Yes. Screw jacks connected by shafts and bevel gearboxes move exactly in sync and can be driven by a single motor. Electronic synchronization with an encoder on each drive is also possible.
Are motors available for the U.S. power supply?
GROB supplies drives with a motor or with a motor flange for your own motor. Tell us your voltage and frequency with your inquiry.
How long does a GROB drive take?
We will get back to you with our quote as soon as we can. The delivery time is stated on each quote.
